Jianan Liu is a Rutgers graduate student, pursing a master’s in Financial Statistics and Risk Management. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Jilin University in China. She has a solid background in mathematics and finance.
During her undergraduate studies, Jianan Liu held two internships. The first one was at the Huaxia Bank as a corporate loan intern. She met with clients’ commercial loan and deposit account applications. Moreover, she drafted approval and reject documents to clients regarding loan and deposit returns. The second internship experience was at FAW Auto Finance Company. She assisted the Personal Loan Manager in the disbursement of personal loans and explanation of loan contracts to individual customers.
After graduation, she obtained a management trainee position at China Construction Bank for six months. During that time, she assisted the lobby manager to provide product information such as loan, deposit, credit card system. In addition, she gained many opportunities to communicate with clients, and learned to listen and assess their needs and make suggestions. She realized the high importance of risk management for financial service companies as she developed a deep understanding of commercial banks through her internship. Her strong passion for data analysis led her decision to pursue a master’s degree at Rutgers.
